Citizenship

Citizenship in the Republic is the highest honour that can be bestowed by our community. Citizenship is awarded by a vote of the entire population of the Republic in a referendum.

Who can become a citizen?
Anyone may become a citizen of the Republic, regardless of race, gender, political or religious belief, or sexual orientation.

What does it cost?
Citizenship of the Republic is entirely free, and the Republic does not levy any taxes or user fees.

What are the rights of a citizen?
A citizen may contribute without restriction to the discussion on our forum; may vote and be a candidate in elections; may join our political parties and cultural associations as a full member, and is afforded the full protection of our constitution and all the rights and liberties listed there.

They can also get their hands on cool stuff like ID cards, citizen certificates (and if they’re lucky) a sash of office!

What are the duties of a citizen?
While it is obviously better for the Republic and for its citizens to have a vibrant and participatory commuity, the only obligation imposed on a citizen by the law is to respond to the annual census-signalling that you wish to remain a citizen for another year. A citizen’s level of involvement beyond that is up to them.

How do I apply?
Get in touch with the Ministry of Immigration, using our Contact form, with the subject “Application for Citizenship”. The job of the Minister is to help you succeed in your application, and he will be in contact with you to guide you through the formalities.
